    Brendan at Westminster

This is such a wonderful story - Brendan, the Border Collie, about to be euthanized, now competing at Westminster.

When you get to the page, you need to scroll way down.

All I can say is WOW! Thanks for sharing that story - who woulda thought?

When Amy was informed that Spot needed rescuing she was told he didn't like kids either and that was one of the reasons he had been chosen to be put down. But a little girl had owned him and left a note saying that she hoped whoever got him would keep his name Spot and love him. But while he isn't crazy about my grandchildren, he tolerates them very well. And he goes to the library and lets older kids read to him. I got to take him one time and it was so cute watching a boy of about 10 reading to him and trying to get him to look at the pictures with him. Spot lay stretched out on the floor and so did the boy. Would have loved to have a camera for that picture. Who makes these determinations and under what conditions?

I don't remember ever seeing a Border Collie that wasn't black and white.

Brendan is one lucky, adorable dog.

I don't think I've seen a BC like that before, he almost looks a bit like an Aussie...maybe because he looks fuzzy? LOL I'm glad he was rescued and good for him on qualifying for Westminster!

I agree, I would have said he is an Aussie, if I would have just seen his picture.

Maybe I'm just used to the look of the working BC's we have around here, I've never seen one that looked like him.

he does look kinda Aussie-ish... but it could be becasue I´ve seen more of the working BC´s than show ones... all pretty

he is one gorgeous BC... love his color.. and it´s a great demonstration of success and how a dog in the right hands can do wonders....

Such a gorgeous boy!!! I can't believe he was so close to the end!! It's a great example of the potential that a dog can have, without anyone really knowing. Give the dog a chance and you've got a winner. I like to believe they all have this potential.

Wonderful story and just the kind I love to read. Thanks.

That's quite a story! I'm glad Brendan found a loving home... hates men and children? Maybe because he was neglected and had an @ssh@t for an owner.

I can't say he's my idea of a Border Collie... but Brendan is very cute. They call that color "Aus red", because it's a light red that is found in Australian show BC lines (Australia being the birth place of show type Border Collies). I don't believe the color even exists in working lines.

What a nice ending to such a sad story. Although not the first time I've heard a story a lot like this.
