Hoof trimmings?

My dog is picky, turns her nose up at every treat, rawhide product, chew toy, food, basically everything in existence. Except one thing: horse trimmings. The ferrier was here this morning, and when I let Lyra out, I realized that she likes them.

However, I'm not sure what the possible problems of this could be. Are there health issues that could come from it? Are they dangerous? Do they break down properly? I just need to know if this is an okay thing to let her eat.

Are the edges sharp or anything? That's just something to be cautious about ... Does she just gnaw n them, or does she swallow pieces?

my dogs including every other dog I've know loves hoof trimmings! I've never seen any problem with them. I've seen them eat alot worse so I dont think the trimmings would hurt them. My beagel is the same way. She won't eat treats or store bought bone except for a pigs ear every now and than, but she just can't pass up a tasty piece of hoof. oh, and ths occasional deer bone she finds in the woods. I know what your thinking gross huh? maybe it's the hound in her.

When I had my horse, I used to bring them to my dog all the time. He loved them and I never had any problems. Was a great treat for him.

Honda has never been around horses (Although I wish I could, dalmatians are horse dogs ) but I've heard they are perfectly fine for them.

I've had horses for years and my dogs always ate the hoof trimmings with no ill effects. They stink like heck when they're wet but the dogs seem to thrive on them. My vet never showed any concern because her dogs did the same so maybe all dogs love them and eat them.

They do stink! But my dogs love them as well.

You can buy cow hooves specifically for dogs to chew on, so I can't imagine it would be a problem.
