    Outing the Edster!

    LOL,
I finally bought a scale and one of the first things I did was step on and pick up the Edster.

He weighed in at a svelte 15 pounds, I fell asleep this morning at 4 a.m. and woke up at 7:30 with him still on my chest, so, he's not THAT FAT!

    OUT YOUR KITTY,

    I am curious!

Morgan was 18.25 the last time he was weighed at the vet's office. He had been over 19 at one point. I have trouble getting an accurate measurement with my home scale.

Are you trying to get the FurKid to 'stand quietly' on the scale whilst
waiting for the reading to settle?

Prolly not gonna happen in this Century!
Here's the 'trick' to a reasonably accurate home scale weigh-in.

    * Grab da Kat, Dawg, Hamster or what-have-you and hold him/her tightly
    * Hop on the scale whilst HOLDING the FurKid
    * Record your combined weights - YOU + the FurKid
    * Release the FurKid ... Zooooooom
    * Step back on the scale and record YOUR weight without the FurKid

    Do the math ...

Take the Combined Hoomin + FurKid weight (the BIGGER number)
and SUBTRACT (-) the Hoomin alone weight (the smaller number)

The RESULT is the weight of the FurKid

LOL I understand that concept although I usually get my weight alone first. I don't know if it is because the furkid is so big and I have trouble seeing over him to the weight, but my scale always gives the difference as much more than what the vet has. Morgan spent years on Science Diet Light cat food because we were trying to regulate his weight gain. He gained every single trip to the vet but it was never as much as I anticipated because of weighing him at home. I know that I must have a problem with the process because sometimes it varies a pound or more on different days. While I may gain or lose a pound over a day or two, the difference in my weight and his shouldn't vary like that.

Taz is going to the vet on Tuesday so I'll get a current accurate weight then. But last time I weighed him he was about 11lbs. At his heaviest he weighed in at 21 1/2 lbs. That was over 6 years ago.
I weighed Paizly about a week ago and she was just over 6lbs. My home scale only weighs in half pounds and she registered at 6.5.

Eve is a petite 8.5 lbs that's a real improvement from the barely 7 lbs she weighed in at when she first arrived. She has just turned 6 years old. Our little kit is a very spunky girl - it's all muscle

    Cooperative kitty - RB Gabe

Gabe was always happy to sit on the scale. He was an odd kitty, but oh so sweet. I have SO many photos of him.

Wouldn't it be nice if all kittys would cooperate like this?

Calvin is 10.5 lbs. They are littermates! We might have to enroll in "the Biggest Loser"!

I love Gabe sitting on the scales.
Tigris is 13 lb, Filou is 2900 g- that's over 6 lb but not as much as 7.

This guy is at the shelter I volunteer at and he tips the scales over 26 lbs!! I saw him the other day and I just wanted to get in his condo with him and cuddle up on his bed beside him. I large cats. While I realize it is not healthy, especially in Horace's case, I still love them.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that my zoo is full AND that Horace Silver must be an only cat I cannot snatch him up and bring him home with me.
