    That was great.

I like the mother of the boy comment: my son knows better than to remove campaign signs....

    Does he? Srsly?

What did the tape show he was doing then? Dusting it, while holding a replacement sign?

The man was absolutely in the right. Although, he'll probably get sued or something.

BTW, I don't care which party's campaign sign it was, for the record.

It's interesting to me that no one has posted on here about this yet. Maybe everyone is sleeping late.

I think it is more likely because it was a McCain sign that was being stolen. PT's Obama's supporters sure get themselves worked up when anything is posted indicating that Obama was wronged in any way but fail to see any wrongs committed when the tables are turned.

Politics aside, this just points up what I posted when the original thread was posted by a PTer who had played "musical signs" and switched McCain and Obama signs on their owners' properties. Private property is private and should be treated as such. No one has the right to remove anything off anyone's lawn no matter how trivial. Lucky for those involved in doing this, there have been no injuries. Should someone do that to the property of a very unstable individual, who knows what could be done in this day where people own guns and are not afraid to use them on their neighbors. *sigh* I hope the parents who enlisted the aid of their children realize the values they are instilling in them.

The boy's dad said he just wanted to see how the sign was put together.

YAH, RIGHT! Nothing like teaching your son to lie and BS.

The sign owner does not face charges.

Private property. That's all they need to tell the kid and the parents. You were on my property, you were touching my sign (or whatever else), you paid a price for it.

The kid and the dad should be happy it was only hooked up to an electric dog fencing system. It could have been much worse.

The guy who did it should also post something to cover his butt though, as well. "Touch at own risk" or something. Cover your butt is the motto today in this lawsuit happy society.

We had a few 18 year old girls here arrested about a week ago for stealing some yes on prop 8 signs, prop 8 is a proposition to not allow gay marriage, it is currently legal in california.

Both girls have a rap sheet now, I defenitely think its wrong and it is sure getting ugly on both sides, I can't wait till its over.

I think that's a bit of a broad and generalizing statement. Anyway I feel it is wrong to go onto someone's property and take anything without permission. It would not matter to me what the sign had on it. I also think even general Halloween type pranks are wrong, egging or TPing, whatever it may be, is vandalism and invasion of someone's property and is wrong.

No Pam. I just don't care. Take an Obama sign...take a McCain sign...take a Paulson sign. Can't get excited.

All I CAN say is please...when it is over...take ALL the signs! Pretty please!

You may be right as I have already happily been proven wrong. I just feel that this particular campaign has been extremely negative and especially here on PT. One person in particular has been so rude that I have been using my Ignore button. We all have a right to disagree but, as the saying goes, not to be disagreeable. Name calling and such has gone overboard here of late and I have pretty much stayed out of the Dog House because of it.

I agree Pam, that it has gotten disturbingly nasty, with a total loss of respectful behavior towards others. Not just here but everywhere you look. It seems a particularly vicious election and I will be glad when it is over. We can only hope some of the anger and hate fades, on both sides.

Okay, I am confused. I can't watch the video, but I did read the article. The young boy had already stolen an Obama sign, and he was in the process of stealing a McCain sign. Showing that 9-year olds don't really have any party affiliation but think it's fun and/or funny to steal signs off of people's front yards. Did the video in some way indicate that they boy was going to replace the McCain sign with the Obama sign? Did it indicate that some adult put him up to it? Or is this just some immature juvenile stealing signs because he thinks it would be neat to have it in his room?

ETA: I just reread the article and see that the homeowner said the boy wanted to swap the sign. I can only assume the boy told him that when he went outside to see if the boy was alright after being shocked (yes there is sarcasm in there).

I saw this on Fox News yesterday and they talked to the homeowner on the phone. I had to laugh at his ingenuity.

I'm a McCain supporter through and through but I will say that the kid had an Obama sign under his arm already so I don't believe it was politically motivated, just stupid kid pranks.

Here in commie-pinko Ann Arbor, things can get pretty ugly! ~

Ann Arbor man backing GOP gets nasty surprise
    • (http://www.mlive.com/annarbornews/ne..._gop_gets.html)

In a decidedly Democratic town awash in a sea of Barack Obama political signs, William Wedemeyer knows he is going against the political grain with the McCain-Palin sign he proudly displays on the front lawn of his Ann Arbor home. But Wedemeyer was taken aback when he recently received a package in the mail addressed to "Joe Six Pack" and containing a couple of bags of dog feces.

    >>

Wedemeyer reported the incident to the Postal Inspection Service. An inspector said they are investigating and that mailing injurious material is a felony punishable by up to a year in prison.

Wedemeyer said he learned the package was mailed from the post office on Stadium Boulevard and that the person paid for the postage with a credit card.

DUHHHH... Looks like the not-quite-so-smarty-after-all-pants responsible is in for a nasty surprise him/herself!

Why that is terrible! How can you really say that?
    snicker

NOw that I have said the politcally correct thing.

Serves the little AH right. And I hope there is no way that the parent can sue.

Of course, besides the tresspassing charge, maybe theft or vandalism the kid will skate and the bleeding hearts will castigate the person who rigged the sign up.

Next time rig it with a punji pit, land mines or a 240 volt line.
    -----------

Sure, your son know better than to steal signs and play with electricty too?

I want to see the movie but I can't!

LOL, I was going to post a thread about Thomas Edison and his electrocuting an elephant. This is way better!
