Lily hissing and growling at Luna after the vet visit (All is well! New pics #10)

As I posted here, I took Luna to the vet yesterday where she underwent anaesthesia. It must be the scent of the anaesthetic that confuses Lily, because as soon as I came back home with Luna, Lily started hissing and growling.

When Luna crawled out of her carrier, still sedated, Lily howled and hissed, and she totally panicked. Later, she was so terrified that she even hissed at me.

Lily is usually the most friendly cat you can imagine, and she's never hissing. The first time she did it was last year when Luna has been sedated for her ultrasound of the bladder. So I guess it's really the smell of the anaesthetic that's driving Lily mad.

Today, there was still a lot of hissing and complaining, but the situation is more relaxed by now and I figure that everything's back to normal tomorrow.

Here's poor Luna coming out of her carrier, wobbly and nauseaus:

While she came out, Lily was hiding outside the door and was already howling:

Here, she was hissing as Luna approaches:

It's easy to see how uncomfortable she is:

BTW, she slept in the living room last night while Luna was in meowmie's bed, as usual. Poor Lily didn't have the heart to be in the same room with Luna.

Aww, poor Luna, it must have been quite an ordeal. I can remember Fister looking like her when he came back from his dental not long ago. It's heartbreaking to see them so wobbly - of course it's no consolation that Lily is hissing at her either. It must be either the smell, or Lily is complaining about the treatment Luna had. Lily does look serious about it!

Hope they're both feeling better soon!

It's normal. Heck, after going under the knife and all the medicinal smells, I'd be a little hissed as well!!! Try rubbing her down with a dryer sheet. That should help get rid of the medicinal smell.

Ours do the same thing when one comes back from the vet. It's the funky smells at the vet's office that upsets them. After a day or so they're ok.

    LOL@Richard!

Well, things are actually better now. Lily sniffed Luna's face a while ago and finally seemed to realize it's her friend. After that, she was running around happily. Lily's world has turned back to normal, as it seems!

My cats react the same way when I bring home one of them from the vet after having been under anesthesia. I guess with their excellent sense of smell, it must be overpowering for them. They should hopefully be getting along again in a few days.
    Great pictures!

Yaaaay! Hello there again, beautiful ladies! Guess what, I can not tell you apart in this picture. Please ask your meowmie not to "tell" yet, for I am having a lovely time trying to figure it out! You are both such gorgeous tabby ladies.

Lily has the more pronounced 'M'-shaped eyebrows. She's the one standing and supervising the return to normal. Clearly, with the half-closed eyes in the second picture, she is saying "All is good again."
