No, they never seem to learn! 
First Shepherd Casey (RB 
) was an Award-Winning Bee *Snapper* from
puppy-hood!
She'd *stalk* one, bob & weave to get her distance just right, then
*lunge* and **ker-SNAPP**, followed by a rather un-lady-like *pa-TOOIE*
as the recently deceased Bee, Wasp, Hornet, or Fly bit the dust. 
She must have wiped out hundreds of winged-critters in her lifetime; and
suffered very few retaliations by her victims.
But I could always tell when she ran into a "tuff one" ... instead of the normal
"single" *ker-SNAPP* ...
there'd be a machine-gun style rapid fire *SNAPPIN*, and she'd have her lips
curled up as far as they'd go into a SUPER-smile. 
If she *Yipped* in the process - she got nailed ... and would make certain
she gave the offending beast a second or third *CHOMP* to make sure.
She did develop Chipmunk Cheeks on occasion, just like Nebo.
She managed a "sour look" very similar to Nebo's!
