Moon is off to the vet...UPDATE (Much better with PICS)

Moon is 10 years old. Last night I noticed it looked like he was pouting. I opened his mouth and he has a big (size of a marble) hard lump in the middle of his lower lip. The center is pink. Basically it looks like he has a big fat lip except instead of it being soft and mushy, it's pretty firm. I don't think he got stung by a bee or bit or anything...I'm really nervous it's going to be a cancerous tumor but it came on so fast. Doesn't look like an abscess either. The vet is squeezing us in at 11:30 this morning before the holiday weekend.

    Any thoughts?

    Will keep y'all updated...

Oh no! I hope it's just an abscess! I have to head into work but will check back in on that computer later today to see if you've posted an update!
    Prayers for Moon.

Thanks guys...the vet said it looked like a traumatic inflammation. She thinks she sees some scratches around the lump and thinks he got scratched (maybe scratched himself or got in a scuffle with Bean), or maybe bit by something outside. He is an indoor cat but does go out in the yard and likes to lay in the tall grass so he could have been bit. She didn't think it was a cancerous tumor. She said it should start to go down and if not to call on Monday. The girls in the office were calling him "botox kitty" and "Angelina Moonie"

    Thanks for caring

I sure hope your vet is right. That must have been awfully scary for you.

Poor Moon. I'm glad that you were able to get him to your vet so soon and I hope that it's just what the vet has diagnosed and that it'll go away soon. These things always seem to happen close to holiday or a weekend don't they.

"Angelina Moonie" ROFL! Aww, that's not a macho name for a great kitty like Moon!

I hope he is still eating and drinking ok - hopefully it will heal up soon.

What a HUGE relief that it's not a tumor. I hope that it was just a bug bite or something that will go away very soon. Have a great weekend and Happy July 4th!

Moon's lip is almost back to normal. I took these pictures last night when it was 1/3 the size it was and this morning, it is pretty much gone. BUT...I wanted you all to see how pretty he looked with silicone lips
