Are they allowed on your furnature?

Do you allow your furkids on your furnature? What about other things, like counters?

Our furkids are allowed on all furnature, just not dressers or counters. I allow Noel on our dining table (shhhh, don't tell my hubby!) in the morning if she is basking in the sun. But otherwise, no table either. They can go on the bathroom counter, but not the kitchen.

Don't know how we'd keep them off the furniture. Countertops are forbidden and the kitchen table, but Tubby is the only one that was even interested and he can't jump that high anymore so no problems in that dept. these days. He used to love jumping up on the counter, and he got flying lessons quite often. Unfortunately as he aged and couldn't quite jump that high, he started using his back claws to "help" him get up to the counter. I didn't realize he was doing this until it was too late, and now we have some nice gouges out of the side of the cabinet. Needless to say, Terry wasn't too thrilled when we finally discovered this.

All 4 of my kittens are aggressive when it comes to me preparing my meals on the kitchen counter. Kitty Love, has extraordinarily long legs and can jump at least 25% higher than the others. Yet, I have to keep a squirt bottle on the counter when ever I use if for any purpose. They don't seem to learn that I do not want them on my food counter. However, I am, for now, chocking this up to them being kittens, because the older cats know that I do not appreciate them snooping in on my food. Today was exceptioally bad, as I was eating a home-made sub sandwich, and had to constantly spray them with water to keep them away. Little Bit was almost comepletely wet, and I just got through feeding all of them. I know that winters here are much more colder than in central Calif. So, now that the nights are beginning to cool off, I am expecting them to "eat me out of house and home" during the next few months. So, what to do?

    Edwina,
You sure are a princess! And rightfully so! You are so well mannered, using a placemat!

    Wayne,
Noel used to do that too...I guess they learn after many times of getting unwanted spray bottle showers and no human food. Good luck with that...hopefully they'll grow out of it!

I used to think that Cassy would mildew before he would ever get trained... As a kitten he would 'challenge' the spray bottle. As he's aged, he's more sensitive to it and 'obeys' more.

They are both allowed on the furniture but not on the kitchen cabinet. Livvy obeys the kitchen cabinet rule, but Cassy I suspect just has learned to keep out of sight...
I'm sometimes asked "Why do you spend so much of your time and money talking about kindness to animals when there is so much cruelty to men?" I answer: "I am working at the roots." -George T. Angell, reformer (1823-1909)

Thank you, Popcornbird for creating this tribute to Summer starring Livvy and Cassy

Mine are allowed on all of my furniture. They aren't supposed to be on the kitchen counter or the dining room table. I only allow them here on very hot days. I'll still catch them up here almost daily and I clap my hands and say no and they usually jump down. Here's Sunny where he isn't supposed to be. He's on the dining room table.

Here's Pepper on the kitchen counter.

Oh well, what can you do?

Oh we were going to be so STERN when we got these three - they weren't being allowed on ANY furniture - DUH!!
So the answer is YES our cats lie, climb, play and rub on all the furniture in the house! But their quite good at not jumping onto the kitchen counter - only Bagel tries that - and her face when she finds herself on the floor is priceless!

Our cats are not aloud on the kitchen counter or the table. Smokey thinks she owns the place and does what ever she wants but she knows she is NOT aloud on either of them. Misty always has cat litter stuck between her toes so no matter where she walks it is everywhere. So I mean imagine sitting down to a dinner and finding cat litter all over the table (we did once) it was nasty so they aren't aloud up there. But my sister thinks they should be aloud up there so I just put the dogs up there when the cats are up there and say yea well I thikn they should be aloud up there. I dunno, its an un going fight at the house.

The beans are allowed on the kitchen counters ONLY... Only if they are enroute to, the top if the fridge(Daddy set HIS Princess Mocha Bean up with a placemat and "special" dish there. ) or the top of the cabinets.... They are pretty good about it too. .....most of the time. If they're somewhere they aren't suppose to be well, then we have LOUD Louie "The Informer" As for the other furniture..... Yes, they let US but only if they can sleep or sit on top of us.
