Thread: Amaryllis Encore

    Amaryllis Encore

Early this year I posted a photo of my annual amaryllis (my brother gives me a bulb each year for Christmas.)

I had kept the bulb from last year. I let it sit in the pot for a while, then cleaned it up and left it in the garage for a couple months. I replanted and.....

It only has two blooms instead of the four. Perhaps it will need a longer rest for next year!

Wow, it's beautiful! So you do have green fingers after all! I love Amaryllis and I've kept some bulbs too, but nothing came of it. It needs a colder place to rest and I don't have that.

    Wow.

    Plant people fascinate me.

I can raise orphaned baby birds, heal sick reptiles, and keep pets alive for twice their natural lifespan.

But give me a beautiful, healthy plant and I'll kill it within months, every time.

How lovely! I've never grown an amaryllis myself, but I used to buy one occasionally for a great aunt of Alec's. I remember one year the eagerly-awaited huge bud failed to pop open. When she investigated, she found the bud completely empty, just a casing with no flowers in it. Poor thing just had a long stalk and a couple of leaves for her windowsill.
