Lake Edward, CPR and Mice (mouses?).

IT's almost the middle of April and Lake Edward is ready to open once again.

The lake, crippler of man, mobile water source and surprise soaker of feet struck late Friday night.

Lately the Lake, also known as the Edster's water bowl, has been on the move.

Because it moves about in a 9x6 foot area (54 square feet) You have to be on your toes, literally, when you enter the room. In the last two weeks I have stepped into spilled water, flipped the waterbowl over and almost broke my ankle. I have thought about reading the travel advisory warnings before I walk through the area.

Why? Ed is one of those "I can't drink this water/still water runs deep/Dad's feet are dirty" kinda cats. I fill up his water dish, then take a GPS reading.

Why? Because the location of the bowl and water spillage changes every day.

Why? Because I own a cat.

    ----------------------------------

I guess I can blame Ed for this one, although I should have been a little more aware of what was going to happen. I guess we'll split the difference.

Earlier in the day, the Edster was watered-His bowl placed a long ways away from my desk, or so I thought.

Later on, I was doing a little posting on the computer - I like to do my work in the semi-dark, that way I can practice my typing. I was rolling along when I knocked a mouse off of the table.

The immediate feeling of water on my ankle made my mind go into overdrive.
The desk also serves as a tool bench, work bench and MAN TOY STATION. I had another remote control mouse on the table top that I was trying to trouble shoot.....I thought, "Well, that thing will never work again!"

I followed the cord down into the 'traveling water park' and found that it was the mouse attached to the machine.

    (INSERT CURSE WORDS HERE)

I pulled the mouse out of the water, unplugged it and began to weigh my options. The first one was grab the mouse and shake the excess water out of it. Next? I pulled the ball out of the bottom and began to panic.....

CPR! Circulating Pollution thru the Room or as it's commonly know-a desk fan.

I said a little prayer for the drowned mouse, draped him over the fan, set it for low speed and waited.

In the meantime I pulled out the third mouse, a brand new mouse, still in the wrapper and plugged it in.....

    -----------------

    Here's the final body count.

The new mouse is put away. The second mouse....the one I was working on has been deemed to far gone......I pulled the plug on it.

The water logged mouse is now back on the machine and still works!

    -----------------------------

The only residual effect from this whole adventure is having to move the traveling water dish before I compute. I'd hire a lifeguard to make sure the area is clear......But, I really don't like Pamela Anderson....

I used to buy them (we call them "rats") 3 at a time because they'd get eaten so quickly!

I moved the water park into the bathroom...keeps things FAR away from anything that can drown! Plus its off the floor so no lifeguard needed...unless the beach goers won't move out of the way in the dark lol.

Edster, Cassie wants you to know she thinks you performed the Cat Job Function of relocating all loose objects from desk to floor exceptionally well. She also wants to know if you've tried moving the Floating WAter Dish just slightly. Meowmom is fuzzy in the morning, and if Cassie moves the water dish ever so slightly one way or the other, Meowmom gets a handful of water when she tries to pick up the dish (where she thinks she last set it). Less subtle than Lake Edward but a sleepy Meowmom is no match for Cassie.

We have 6 water dishes here , actually some stainless steel mixing bowls I got at the Salvation Army three for 2 dollars at a half price sale.
They work quite well if I change the water daily Richard, but like the Edster theres hell to pay if its stale.
Have you tried ice cubes in the bowl, thats fun hearing clunk clunk clunk all night long!!!!!
