    Our storks are back!!!

The storks that I can see from my office window every summer came back last week, which is always so exciting! They are the only couple here in this area, and it looks like they already started hatching. Last year, they had one baby stork, and the before, there were 4 little ones.

I took a photo of the couple in the nest today; can't take better ones as my camera is really coming to its limits at such a distance.

Stunning photo Kirsten! Looks like it came from a magazine.

Wow! What a great photo! Are you able to see the little ones when they hatch?

    Thanks!

Are you able to see the little ones when they hatch?
Yes, I can see them; as soon as they are able to lift their little heads. They're growing fast btw. By the end of August, they'll have the size and the look of their parents, and leave for their long journey to South Africa.

    Very cool!

I have only seen storks once, when I was in Morocco, they were much bigger then I expected!

What a wonderful photo. Is the nest new each year or do they refurbish one left from the year before?

What a great shot! And how I envy you for bing able to see them. In two villages nearby there are storks, so I see them from time to time on a wet meadow and on a horse pasture.
    They are so beautiful.

Okay, I'll try to take more pictures of them, and of their babies in case they really hatch.

Is the nest new each year or do they refurbish one left from the year before?
They always use the same nest!

What have they built their nest on top of?
It's a chimney of an old factory, very high above the ground.

Breathtakingly beautiful, Kirsten! I'm looking forward to seeing the babies too.

    Thank you!
