Litter pan mishap?

I noticed that Cassie was trying to bury a "clingon" yesterday. She was making burying motions on the rug. I've never seen her do that before. I don't know why she was trying to bury a poop that wasn't in the box. I just took some toilet tissue and put it in the toilet. I just hit the carpet with a Shout wipe, no Resolve needed.

What's up with this? Was she trying to cover up a poop so I wouldn't see it? Can someone advise me?

Oh Cassie is ok.. My Calitt does that sometimes.. I dont know if it is confusion or just could not hold it till we get to the litter box.. It is auto for them to cover things up no matter where the location is.. I like you just clean up the spot & her wittle rear rear & go on..

I think, too, that it's natural for them to want to cover up. Pidge does it right after she eats, especially if she drops any food outside the dish. Cgirl does it if she throws up. I wouldn't worry about it.

My cats do this as well. They also try to bury their throw up and even food that that they don't like. They will paw at the carpet and if there is a small rug near by, the will pull it over the food to bury it. Then I know not to buy that food again! LOL

My cats will also sometimes try to bury there throw up and Sunny will start scratching around his food bowl after he's already finished eating. I found this website which talks about many different reasons why cats do things. Here's the link:http://www.hdw-inc.com/behaviorswhy.htm.

BURYING OUTSIDE HIS LITTER BOX
If your cat is scratching around the floor or area around the OUTSIDE of his litter box, especially if this is right after he has used the litter box, he is most likely trying to tell you that something is not right to him about his litter box; either he is displeased with the feel of the litter; the smell of the litter; the type of box; the location of the box; or something to that affect. The only way he can think of to demonstrate this to you is for him to try to "bury" the area outside of his box. If all was well to him with his litter and litter box arrangement, he would jump in to his box, do his business, bury his urine or feces, then jump out and go back to what he was doing.

Sometimes after eating, or simply when you put down a bowl of wet food, your cat may try to let you know that the food is not to his liking by trying to "bury" the entire bowl! This behavior can also occur when the cat is displeased with the location of his food bowl, the food itself, or possibly when he is not very hungry, and is trying to "bury" his food (which he is then thinking of as "prey") for him to have later on, when he is perhaps more ready to eat.

It's in a cats nature to bury things, Think about them being out in the wild. They would cover their poop to hide it. At times I give my cat turkey from my plate. I put my plate on the floor and he some turkey and then he makes the motion like he's trying to bury it.

I have a question about my cat and the way she eats....sometimes she'll take a piece of her dry food walk away then eat it on the carpet. Sometimes she eats whatever isn't in her bowl but around it. Is she just being picky? What do you think...thanks.
