    Oliver the goffin cockatoo

Oliver is 5 months old and he is doing very well. The only problem is that he doesn't like to be alone. I'm in school and when I get a job I won't be able to spend as much time with him. I'm with him in the morning from 6:30 to 7:40. Then I get back from school at 4:00 and he's out for the rest of the day with me. When I get a job he'll go belistic. Should I get him another compaighnion. I was thinking of a electus, a grey, or a alexandrine parakeet. Please tell me what you guys and gals think.

I think it would be great if you get him a companion. I wouldn't advice getting a different specie, because it can really terrify the smaller bird, and sometimes they won't like each other. Get him a bird of the same specie, and I'm sure it will turn out great!

Thanks for the reply. So another cockatoo would work. Goffins are only 12 inches and that is the smallest cockatoo. I realy dont whant another noisey bird. You don't think a electus or grey would work? The grey and electus are about 14 inches. I don't really whant another goffin. Would a rosie cockatoo work? Thanks Garrett

YAY! Can't wait to see your cute little birdie! I have two cockatiels whom I love dearly. Aren't birdies just so sweet? I never knew a cockatoo can be just 12 inches! My cockatiels are 12 inches from tip of crest, to tip of tail. Is your bird's body 12 inches, or the whole bird (crest to tail). If the whole bird is 12 inches, maybe even a cockatiel could work (don't take my word on this; I'm just assuming). I think any specie would work as a companion if they are kept in seperate cages, but close to each other when you go out. I wouldn't consider it safe to leave the house with two birds of different species in the same cage, even though most birds are very gentle and don't tend to hurt others. I would get anothe cockatoo if I were you, even another kind of cockatoo. Maybe it will work out better with the same, or similar kind of bird. Good luck on choosing your next bird!
