    MCI ID theft scam

Yesterday I got a voice mail message allegedly from MCI, asking to verify stuff about my line. It was suspicious to me: a. Only instructing me to call at certain times; b. Recorded message (MCI always identifies by name) and the kicker: The phone number did not match that on my bill! I called MCI, and told them about this. It is indeed an ID theft attempt. So please be careful about any messages that you get like this. The phone number can provide a sense of legitimacy. If you use a product or service from the company in question, please contact them (using a genuine number on the bill or so) and let them know.

It never ceases to amaze me how they can come up with these scams. Thanks for the warning!
