Greektowm casino? Me and my bowling league will be going there for our bowling banquet the week after mother's day. Where is it in Detroit? Is it a nice place to visit?

Greektown Casino is very nice, but Detroit is a very busy city. Be careful what area you go to because it does have a high crime rate. Detroit is located in on the coast of Lake Huron and is one of the high automotive towns.

I was born and raised in Detroit. (happily living in Orlando now)

Greektown is very close by the downtown area. I haven't been there since the Greektown casino opened. As far as I know there is/was some sort of monorail that has a very small circuit around downtown (RenCen) including Greektown.

I'm sure the close by area is relatively safe, but don't go out of the area. At about 3 miles outside the downtown area it's very seedy and crime ridden.

Last time I was around the run down areas (burnt out buildings) they had made some small improvements (putting up newer housing). At least it's a step in the right direction, something I never saw in the 25 years I was there. (circa 1979-1998)
