    Open on a full stomach....lots o' cake!

As I mentioned in my other thread, I'm going to culinary school full time now to become a pastry chef. I thought I'd share a few pictures of cakes that I've made.

    Enjoy.

One of my first cakes from my Wilton classes.

Just some random cakes from school...

A few birthday cakes...I hate my writing.

    My homage to Chicago baseball:

    And for a baby shower:

    Thanks for looking!

Those are great! I really love the last one.

My mom took a Wilton class YEARS ago when I was about 8 years old. She taught me some techniques and I made my own American Flag for the 4th of July one year. It's a lot of fun! And now days they have more techniques to teach. lol

    Keep up the good work!

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Mmmm lip smacking! And you are really doing WELL!

I took a Wilson course at Micheal's and REALLY enjoyed it. Problem was, as I lived alone, I was the one EATING all my "homework." Then Dad moved in and being diabetic, my cake making days were over. I gave all the stuff to a good friend of mine who makes cakes for special occassions for people.

    Your "samples" look terrific!

What's the name for that last type of icing? I forget!

Great-looking cakes! We watch "Ace of Cakes" and some of those are amazing, too.

I was always the cake-decorater in my family, as Ma *wanted* pretty cakes, but couldn;t draw to save herself. So by the age of about 4, she'd have me draw on the cake with a toothpick, and she'd then trace it with frosting. When I was old enough, I got to wield the frosting myself!

Oh my goodness! Those are Scrumptious!!!

I can't decide which ones I like best! You've got talent!

As for handwriting.... dear Debbi, you need practice! LOL. Practice makes perfect, and with your talent for the roses and borders, I'm sure you'll develop a gorgeous flowing writing style in no time.
