Thread: I'll have what YOU'RE having!

    I'll have what YOU'RE having!

So this evening I roasted some chicken, and of course Smudge smelled it and was round and round my ankles. Since roast chicken is a nice safe food to share with a cat (so long as they don't get hold of the bones), I tore off a piece and put it on a plate for him. He licked it until he pushed it off the plate, then got back to his begging. I put the chicken back on the plate, but he was insistent - he wanted some of what I was eating (the very same roast chicken!)

Do your cats assume that they're being given "the other leading brand" when they beg, even when you give them exactly what they're asking for?

Rascal does the same thing - and it must be that it is so much better to receive a tidbit from Mama's hand than to eat if off of the plate or floor.

What suckers we are - even when I am having something I know he won't like, I give him the option to refuse - at least it stops the begging.

Yeppers! I've always thought that was strange, too. Plus if there is carpet somewhere in the house, they'll be sure to move it to the carpet to eat it so that it gets grease on it. Love that fur posse!
