Crystal, it is great if you are handy and can make your own! I do like that CD, and the items look sturdy. The key for cats is sturdy, they won't use anything which wobbles.
My Dad is quite good with DIY projects.
He made this one to fit te livingroom window, and there are always cats on it.

This guy is awsome. I bought a Cat tree from him in January and it is perfect. VERY sturdy(my 2yr old son likes to climb on the lowest shelf) and my cats LOVE it. I loved th etree so much that I added his link to my website. Here is a link to teh one I got:
