    Meet Sydney/Nebo vs. Lady

Well I posted earlier because I was mad about my sister getting another dog. I still think it was a dumb idea, but now I am hopelessly attached to the dog. I just hope that she will be too, and give them both the attention that they deserve.

Her name is Sydney. I thought of Daisy when I first saw her! She is an 8 week old mini schnauzer. She's pure black, except for a little white on her chin and chest. I have to admit she is an adorable puppy! I love schnauzers. She was real timid (can't blame her with my dogs...and it was her first day away from home...) Nebo liked her, Smokey sniffed her a couple of times, and Reggie wouldn't leave her alone. Typical Reggie, sniffing, growling, and acting extremely dominant. Savannah liked her too. You can tell she has that terrier terror in her already, lol...growling and barking at Nebo. She is so tiny! She's not going to be even close to Reggie's size (which is a good thing). And there's only a weeek or so diff in age between her and Nebo--she is like 1/5 of his size! I have a feeling she is going to be freaked of McKinney at first, but they will get to like eachother in a few days. Here are some pics.

Melissa brought Lady over today. I guess it was a "playdate" lol. I was impressed with Nebo. When he first met her a week or 2 ago, he was kind of a snot...growled and snapped at her. I think he was so grateful who someone who would actually play with him (not Reggie/Smokey) he just loved her! We didn't dare let them play offleash, as Lady is a lot larger then him (40 lbs vs. 15 lbs) and they both tend to play rough. I think they had fun though! She loved his pool too.

Ooo lets eat the tree together!

Smile! I'm going to eat you!

Ooooh and I saw a gorgeous dog at Petsmart today! A male siberian husky, with the same coloring as Nebo! He had a somewhat different mask, and brown eyes...also longer fur then a sibe should really have. But he was just beautiful! I can't wait to see Nebo as an adult!

First of all, Amy, you are a doll. Just look at all that beautiful blond hair and those mesmerizing eyes. One day you are going to look back at these pictures and wish you had realized just how good you looked.

Sydney is precious. Has Jackie seen these pictures? Does your sister live with you or is she out on her own? Who is her other dog? Nebo is so cute. I love his brown color and those blue eyes. I love the picture of him smiling.

Jackie is going to love the pictures of Sydney. I agree she looks like a little Daisy!!!

Amy, you are not ugly. It was great seeing your picture and finally being able to put a face to the name. Rachel was right, you will look back someday and see the beauty you possess inside and out!

Keep getting Lady and Nebo together. It is important he has a lot of dog interaction and play time. Have you enrolled him in a puppy kindergarten class yet?

Thanks everyone. That pic of me is really bad, it was at like 10:00 pm.....I look like I'm on drugs or something. I'm still voting for the ugly side, lol.

No my sister doesn't live with me. She lives about 2 hours away I think. Her other dog is McKinney...that westie pup I watched for 3 weeks. You'd have to know my sister to understand the issues I have with her getting dogs.....but maybe she will grow up and take care of them.

I went and got some papers at Petsmart about the puppy kindergarten. They have to be 10 weeks old to enroll them, and he's not quite there yet. My parents think I am nuts. There is some guy in my city who does dog training for $50. But I don't know anything about his methods, and well, it's for dogs 4 months +, its not really set for puppies....Doesn't Petco offer classes too?

I was quite scared about how he acted with dogs at first. The first meeting with Lady did not go well. But yesterday, they were great together...no mean growls or anything, and just play bites. So maybe he just needed to calm down a bit. The first meeting with McKinney went even worse (of course McKinney was driving him CRAZY, and would not stop biting at him).......so I don't know if I dare have them meet again, lol. He was fine with Sydney, and he just LOVES Reggie and Smokey...too bad they hate him...he just wants to play *so* bad.... I saw something about that "Yappy Hour" thing at Petsmart. There's one next week, I'd like to take him...but it's around Melissa's (Lady's owner) birthday, so she wouldn't be able to come with me...dunno if I want to go alone.

You wouldn't be alone, you would have Nebo! Dogs are a great ice breaker for meeting new people. My suggestion is GO!!!

Don't sign up for a class without know what tecniques they use. If you have any questions you are more than welcome to ask me and I will try to help you determine if it will be a good class or not. Basically you want to find a positive reinforcement or clicker training class but all that is down the road after puppy kindergarten. Puppy class is very important.

I don't know about Petco but I took Smokey to the Puppy headstart class at PetsMart and he loved it! There were just 4 pups in the class (Smokey- a APBT, Baxter- A wolfhound mix of some kind, Nikki - a lil' poodle, and Phil - a JRT). Smokey and Baxter were best of friends! They just played and played and played and ... I think it was great for Smokey not only to play with Baxter, who was big and a good match for Smokey, but to get used to being around dogs who didn't want to play with him because they were small or shy or whatever.

I am planning on taking him back for another class probably in September (he'll be 7 months old then).

I definitely think the $99 for an 8 week class at PetsMart was way worth it. They give you coupons for treats, too. Once I think I ended up with 2 bags of treats for like $0.96. WOOHOO! And the trainer we had, Lydia - she was great and put up with Smokey's super puppy-like behaviour. He was the youngest in the class..... Anyway, Lydia used positive reenforcement (treats) to teach. She taught - Sit, Down, Off, Stay, Leave it, Give it, Wait, Settle, loose leash walking, Heel... and there might have been a few more.

Whatever you do - good luck!
