JoJo Louse - High Blood Count

JoJo's Vet called and said that her blood work looks fine. However, her white blood cell count is high. The vet said that JoJo's body may be trying to fight an infection of some kind.

Once in awhile she'll make this strange coughing/sneezing sound. So hopefully, she can get that under control.

The Vet said it wasn't anything to be alarmed about.

In 6-7 weeks, JoJo will be getting her teeth cleaned (it makes me nervous that she'll be "under"). They'll do another blood work on her then to see how the blood cell count is and they'll also x-ray her leg.

My poor JoJo Lousie. Please keep her in your thoughts.

I'm sorry to hear this but try not to worry. Is the vet going to put her on any antibiotics as a precautionary measure?

Prayers and positive thoughts for JoJo.

No she didn't mention that. I don't think the vet was very worried. Thanks for the good thoughts.

Oh my the white count is high (signs of infection), your cat is sneezing/coughing and your vet isnt concerned? Oh my.
Sorry, dont agree this is something to be concerned about and I'd be asking the vet for antibotics.

    Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear this and this would worry me. I sure hope that whatever it is that it's nothing serious. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent her way.

I will contact the vet and see what's going on and why she didn't prescribe antibiotics.

Oh boy, it's not my intention to scare you but only to give you a heads up: when I was still involved in rescue, I took a cat in to be spayed who had those same symptoms and I asked the vet point blank if I shouldn't wait because I was hesitant to put the cat under. She said that there was no cause for concern. The cat died on the operating table. (This was before I met my current vet who checks everything.) Please don't consider me an alarmist and someone who's looking to frighten you. I'm neither. But if a cat is exhibiting symptoms, a vet should look into it. JoJo has been through enough.

    Thanks for the support everybody.

JoJo is doing very well. When I call about her teeth, I will make an appointment to have her blood checked again. If all is well, I will make the appointment for her teeth and the x-ray to her legs.

She is such a love. I can't begin to tell you how adorable she is. She follows me everywhere and stares at me. She sleeps with me every night. She butts Fenway all the time (to Fenway's dismay).

I bought her a special pink food dish. It has little kitty paws on it and it's low so she can eat her food easily.

I finally saw her pee & poop the other day. I'm glad I didn't buy a poop box with a cover because she uses the edges to put her front paws on and balance herself while she does her business. It's so precious to see!

Hi there, just catching up on things.

I did a quick check, and you mentioned that she had ear mites. It could be that is what caused the high white count, and if the vet treated that, this could be why he isn't worried.

In any event, hugs and scritchies for Jojo Louise!
