I have been wondering, what did Pet Talk start out being. Was it like what it is now? Did a lot of members join fast?

I heard part of the story last March. Let's see.

I think Pet of the Day came first, about 11 or 12 years ago. Then as it became so popular, Paul split out Dog and Cat from Pet.

I'm sure others can add lots to this.

It grew pretty quickly, as far as communities we've been involved with. It began in June of 2000, as a place for people to discuss each day's featured PetoftheDay, DogoftheDay and CatoftheDay, and other pet issues. Basically the forum has stayed the same, we added a few furms over time, but what you see if pretty much how it was then.

As far as the people, some people come and go, some stick around - like any community, it is like a living organism and changes subtly over time.
