Bonnie And Clyde Need A Home

I live in the Los Angeles area. My neighbor has two red-nosed pitbulls, Bonnie and Clyde. They are medium-size dogs and brother and sister. They were rescued when their mother got killed by a car and had to be bottle fed as little puppies. The problem is that their owner (my neighbors grandson) did not think his dogs were as interesting once they were full-grown. Now grandson has moved out of grandmas house and grandma can't really handle taking care of the dogs.

Bonnie and Clyde have lived outside their whole life. Right now, they are tied up outside with chains. This is because Clyde is really smart and strong. He digs underneath the fence and moves the bricks away so he can get out. He doesnot really go anywhere, but he just wanders around the end of the block to visit people. He and Bonnie are so sweet, I just cannot tell you. Nor can I tell you how many times the neighbors and I have found Clyde walking down the street and we just yell out, "Clyde" and he puts his head down and comes right up to us and we bring him home. It is a really sad situation. Another neighbor of mine wants to call SPCA, but I know that Bonnie and Clyde will just end up in the pound, which means certain death.

I don't have a lot of time to search out local rescues, etc. When I have done it in the past, I have not received a response. I did find one posting from CA on petfinders for someone who wanted a pit bull. But I am so scared of people who want a pit for the wrong reason. Bonnie and Clyde are lovers, not fighters. They love people and need a home with attention, love and a real shelter. Can anyone help???

    Thank you so much.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear about the situation Bonnie and Clyde are in The grandparents aren't active enough to take the dogs for a walk or two and keep them inside? I have a feeling the grandson is going to have to learn about responsibilty some day.

How old are these two? Could any of the neighbors offer to excersie and play with Bonnie and Clyde till a new home is found for them? Or perhaps someone foster them until they find a new home? I agree that the SPCA may put them down because they are pitbulls. Even if they don't, many people are sceptical and afraid of adopting one. How old are they and what color?

Try the classified adds on PetFinder.com. There is a pet wanted link and you may be able to find her a new home that way.

I will keep those two pooches in my thoughts. Best of luck to you.

[Oh, how sad! Bonnie and Clyde are such fine examples of how sweet and loving Pitbulls really are. Unfortuanately, re-homing them is so difficult. I am currently helping a client at work place his SWEET Pitbull. His cats won't stop chasing HIM! Anyway, most Pitbull rescues are full with a long waiting list and many shelters will not even attempt to place them. All Pitbulls turned in to Mass. shelters are automatically put down. Temporary fostering might be an option. Another one is a Pitbull Rescue site of sorts. They do not accept turn ins. But, they have a website where you may place your dog, with a history, description and photo and potential adopters email you personally. It's worth a try. I hope so badly that these wonderful dogs, who are such a credit to their breed, find the loving home they deserve.

    Here's the website:

    update on Bonnie and Clyde

I have not written since I put in my first notice. The dogs are both gone and no one knows what happened to them. The neighbors aren't talking to anyone and I can only speculate. I just hope that the grandson came and got them. I hate to even write about it because I just feel so helpless. Thank you so much everyone for your input and support. I will continue to try to find out what happened to these cute little babies (they were about 2-3 years old) and let you know if they are safe. Sherry

Bonnie and Clyde sounds SO adorable.... TOTALLY off subject here, but those names.. they remind me of a song "Modern Day Bonnie & Clyde" by Travis Tritt.. lol, I sure do listen to a lot of country music! - Rachel

    BONNIE AND CLYDE ARE GONE

I finally was able to talk to Grandma yesterday. She pulled up as I had my dog, Jessie, outside to go pottie. Jessie ran right up to her, tail and butt wagging. So, I took the opportunity to ask, "what happened to Bonnie and Clyde." Grandma said, "They got out again," walked into her yard and slammed the gate. I know they did not get out, because I had just put blocks up to secure the fence the last night I saw them. Bonnie also never got out on her own and if Clyde got out, he just hung around the alley way.

I don't know what else to say. I'm just really sad. Thanks for all your support. Sherry
