Solid Gold is making my dogs sick!!

I have been feeding Tikeya, Ebony, and Daisy All Solid Gold for the last two weeks.. and They have all had just Horrid diarrhea.. My mom is getting really fed up with the contant runs all over her yard.. I try to keep up with it, but it seems all three girls have been going more then oince a day all over the place.. Its not good.. They all have been eating grass as well, and barfing it up EVERYDAY!! I am thinking we might need to switch back to Nutro.. But Ebony is allergick to Grains!!! HELP!!
Is there any other brands of dog food that might be better for their tummys, with little to no grains?

Hmm I think Wellness and Nutrition has little grains in it?
I know another dog that didn't do well on Solid Gold either. Just some dogs don't tolerate it I guess.

Have you tried Innova Evo? Also, Karen raised a good point. Exactly what grain is Ebony allergic to?

Since this has been causing so much trouble to you, ask your vet if they can do an allergen test for Ebony. That will helpe pinpoint the exact problem and choosing a kibble will be that much easier!

Some possibilities for diarrhea:

• Regardless of which food any abrupt food change can cause diarrhea, all food changes should be done gradually over a week, mixing in the old food and gradually switching to the new food.
  
  An intestinal parasite called coccidia can cause diarrhea. It can be picked up from drinking funky water (water in ditches, ponds, swamps etc) and can be passed from dog to dog in kennels.
  
  Other types of worms can also cause similar symptoms.
  
  Animals getting certain treats or greasy/spicy people food can experience similar symptoms.

My first thought would be to take a fecal (poop) sample to your vet and check for parasites. Other than that try feeding a light bland diet of boiled rice and white chicken meat (no skin or fat) for a day or two then gradually try the Solid Gold again. If the diarrhea doesn't clear up and no intestinal worms/parasites are found, a visit to your vet is in order.

Two weeks, in my opinion, isn't long enough to give them time to get used to the food. It's very common for dogs to be gassy and have loose stools for a while on new food.

However, I did list grain-free foods in your other thread. Look for some of those if you decide to switch.

The vet said ALL grains, So I assume that included Oats, Wheat, Rice, and any other grain product, including corn.

I mixed the solid gold in with their old food for about 4 days before just switching totally over to Solid gold.. Thier Poops have been very VERY loose, and getting worse and worse over time.. Like between the times of 8pm-9am Tikeya, Ebony, and Daisy pooped a total of 8 times in the backyard!!! It was just horrid. and It looks like they were in pain as well..
Daisy has also been throwing up like crazy on this new food..
I took the solid gold back today, and exchanged it for their old food (Nutro Senior, with Glucosamine), I am going to check out the only other local pet food store in town and see if they carry no-low grain foods..

I know they carry Innova EVO, but I am pretty sure it goes for around $64 a large bag... Ugh..

I usually mix in INNOVA's EVO for my kitties. I've also used their California Natural (a few of my cats get diverticulitis). They love it as well. It's all by Natura Pet company. They also have KARMA, HEALTHWISE and MOTHER NATURE as well as the basic INNOVA. It may expensive, but I'd rather have them feeling good than throwing up and having diarrhea.

My assistant at work mixes her own raw diet and seems to prefer that. I'm not sure exactly what she uses, but I can find out for you. I know besides the raw meat, she has some kind of dark green veggies and yoghurt too.

You really should consider feeding your dog's seprate foods. Konnor eats diffrent food then Nova because he is also allergic to grains. I just feed them seperatly and they do great. You will also find $64 for a large bag of dog food for one dog will last you a long time. I know that on top of that you will have to buy seperate food for your other two dogs but at least Ebony won't be sick.
