My neighbour Trevor had a beautiful black and white fluffy boy he simply named "Cat". Cat's parents were 'alley cats' who literally shoved their kitten onto a porch, under Trevor's canoe.
Trev thought he would have Cat for 20 years. Sadly, he started losing weight and appetite in the last month - the vet thought he had colitis.
Treatments didn't do much - and one morning, Cat threw up - and Trev was there in time with a zip-loc bag to catch it. He took it to the vet - the vet said "bring him in".
They were going to run fluids - without daddy Trevor there, Cat fought the needle. They mildly sedated him, and the vet gave the abdomen a good palpation. He called Trev. "I want to open him up and have a look." Trev said ok.
Pancreatic cancer...cancer everywhere, actually. The vet called Trev, and he went down...Cat was out of it, but his eyes were open, and his pupils dilated when he heard Trevor.
The vet gave them a couple of minutes alone, and then Cat went to the Bridge.
He was 12 years old.
Prayers for Cat and Trevor. Trevor is kind of in shock, and we know what that is like.
