    ((Demolition Derby *24 pics*))

Today we had a blast, my dad and brother raced their demolition derby cars. It was my brother Adam's first time and my dad promised if the car made it through this race I can try it next month. My dad has been racing for yeeeears and I've always been intrested and helped him with the cars. Next year we're going to try and get us each a car up and running. We'll see.

Anyway, they both did pretty decent. My dad was in first in his heat up until he lost a tire with only one lap to go. And Adam got third place in his heat. Then they both entered the "freebie" fun race for all of the non-winners along with 5 of their friends. It was the most intense race of them all and really fun to watch. My dad was in first for the majority of that one too, with Adam right behind, until my dad lost a tire and Adam got stuck in the mud.

I took waaay too many pictures but I just wanted to share of few of my favorites.

    Just a reminder to everybody

    Adam's car before the race

And they're off! Adam actually was in the lead for the first two laps (out of ten) but his car started overheating

    Survived the first race!

He led the first 5+ laps, and probably could have won it if he wouldn't have lost a tire! He actually went around about 2 laps with just the rim on one side and a flat on the other!

    Demo Derby Racing ...

    **PHUNN**, huh Ashley?

A couple of the Fire Guys, a Son, and a Daughter all play with Smash & Crash cars ...

The Daughter (about your age ... even LOOKS a lot like you, Ashley!) has done
    pretty well.

Take a shot at it --- Looks like "The Boys" put together pretty good machines ...
with them as your Pit Crew, you'll have a BLAST!

Oh my gosh!! You'll have to tell me when the next race is. I'd love to go watch!

That looks like so much fun. Does it cost to enter or is all you need is a car that you don't mind getting banged up and dirty.

Love Jack posing on the roof.

We're thinking about doing one tomorrow Not really, just wishful thinking, there's a race in Owosso.

Kimmy, It was $35 to race a car, and there are specific regulations (no seats, no window, has to have specific roll bars, within the size requirements, gas tank has to be moved in the car, reinforced doors, etc.). It took my dad and I about a month to get Adam's car ready, his car was from the previous year and was still running so we didn't have to do anything else to it. We're thinking about tearing apart my oldest brother's car for a race in September. I'll definitely let you know when the next one is coming up

That's too funny Phred. My dad and a lot of his fire department buddies have been doing it for years. I was going to do it when I was 16 but realized the rules were changed that you had to be 18 and Adam just happened to ask if he could do it first I almost got to do the "Powderpuff" race today, all females, but my mom and I got there later so we missed the sign up.

I don't think FireKid Lil Miz Becky did the Powderpuff Division ...
she takes on the GUYs in the "regular" events!

She's run in the Canfield Fair Demo Derby more than once ... and that's
a SERIOUS Crowd in the Smash & Bang events!
I think the Grand Prize is at least $1,000.00 --- some pretty intense *Bumpin & Bangin*
goes on there ... and she's survived her Heat Race and entered the Feature.

    You'll do *PHINE*!!

    I love demo derbys!!
    How fun!!

There's a small dirt track only a few miles from my house, every Saturday night they race. They have demo derbys a few times a year but every Saturday night they have the Crazy 8 race. Sometimes with school busses!!!

    Thanks everybody!

Oh Angie, don't tell my dad! He's always wanted to race school buses after he saw it on TV once This one was a figure eight "scramble", I like them much more than the smash and crash derbys.

Amy, how cool would that be?! I'll let you know when the next one is!
