My baby boy Kai turned a month old yesterday! :) Picture heavy!!!

A month ago yesterday my beautiful boy Malakai turned a month old. I cannot believe the time went by so quickly. This past month has been one full of happiness, sleep deprivation, challenges, and sore nipples. But I have loved every minute of it!

So I thought I would finally share my birth story and a couple of photos with you all. This is how my lovely boy came into the world...

Saturday I went shopping with Dylan, grammy and Kai's daddy. We were shopping for an outfit to bring our baby home in when I started having contractions. I lost my plug about three days before. I knew these were different than all the rest as they did not let up. They were coming about every 10 minutes and they were very strong. I was walking hunched over in the store lol, but I managed to pick out an outfit and we finally headed home. That was about 4:30. I got home and they just were not letting up. I decided to take a nap and lay down to see how I felt. I slept all but 15 or so minutes and then figured I should start timing my contractions. If I was in labor I wanted to labor at home for a bit before going to the hospital. Luckily that day I had packed my hospital bag lol.

At about 6:30 or so I asked Dan to come get Dylan because I knew I was going to go to the hospital. Dan picked Dylan up and I took a shower. Eddy got here around 7 or so I think and we headed to the hospital. Tonight was the night and I could feel it! I really wasn't joking this time! lol. Poor Eddy probably thought I was just pulling his chain again. haha. So we got to the hospital and I was monitored. I wasn't dilated but 1 and a half cent. but my contractions were very strong and very regular. At 1:30 am Sunday I was sent home, very dissapointed! I knew I was in labor. I think all the nurses thought I was nuts. Well I sure proved them wrong when at 3:30 am my water broke, on the couch mind you. Thank goodness I was sleeping on top of a very thick down comforter. Otherwise I would have tossed my couch out.

I didn't have my water break with Dylan naturally. They broke it in the hospital so I had no idea what it was like. There was so much. It was literally like a faucet and it wouldn't stop. I didn't know what to do besides laugh and say "Oh my god" over and over. I used all the towels and blankets in the house. So embarassing. I was in shock because there was no turning back now. I was going to have a baby that night and there was nothing I could do about it lol.

    My contractions

This picture is funny. She looks so happy and I look so unhappy lol.

When I got back to the hospital I was checked at 8:30am and at a 3. The doctor said I could have an epidural so I took it. Before that I sat in the jacuzzi for awhile but it didn't help. The epidural was painful to put in this time and I had a contraction in the middle of it. Not fun, and it didn't work so guess what I got to do? Give birth feeling everything! Though it was very painful it was a lot quicker as I had complete control. At 11 I was checked again and fully dilated. I was not expecting it to go that fast! They shouted for the doctor as they could feel his head and I started pushing at about 11:30. I had him around 1 in the afternoon.

Me, in a lot of pain. Can you tell?

Eddy sleeping. He probably would have missed it if we didn't wake him up.

    Pushing

It was funny because I was laughing during pushes. I don't know why but I found the whole thing funny. Here are all these people grunting along with me and I just could not help myself but to laugh. As soon as he came out he started wailing. He's got quite a set of lungs on him!

The first thing the doctor said when he came out was, "Whoa, that's a big one".

He weighed in at 8 lbs 14.4 oz.

I have tons more photos but there are stories behind them so I will save those for other threads. Hopefully I can post another thread tomorrow about his first trip to the park/picnic.

Hope everyone enjoyed his story. I love my boy so much!

Happy one month Kai! He is sooo adorable.
That picture of you "in pain" made tears come to my eyes. I do not have children so I can't imagine what all that feels like. And I'm not sure I ever want to. My furkids are just fine for now.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Right now his eyes are still blue but who knows what they will look like in a few months since most babies eyes change. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another blue eyed boy, or green!

I know! It's amazing how much bigger he has gotten. He's already grown out of his 0-3 months clothes because the bugger is so long.
