Quick question about a new kitten...

Just got another new addition from my g/f's parents today... what looks to be about a 4-8 week old kitten, maybe a little older since I don't have a scale to check weight, but feels about 3lbs. or so.

She has pus coming out of the eyes and a little discharge from the nose, I'm assuming that it's just an Upper respiratory infection, and when she goes to the vet tomorrow they should be able to diagnose all that.

My main concern with her is that she hasn't used the litter box yet, according to the family that my g/f's family got her from has said she used the litter box over there. She has yet to use it here, has gone through 1 bowl of food approx. 4 hours ago, and has gone through about 1/2 a bowl of water.

Other issue to go along with that is there are times when it looks as though her anus may be prolapsing (I think is the correct term, inner muscles pushing out slightly) and it seems to become more noticeable when she meows when she's flexing or straining her body. We're going to take her to the vet first thing in the morning at approx. 7am. I want to know if we should take her to emergency vet instead of waiting the 9 hours or so.

    Any advice would be awesome.

All I can suggest is you CALL the emergency vet and ask.

Does your regular vet have an after-hours number, or an answering service that can get a message to the vet?

    Please call, at least!

The little kitten is just fine, it's just the average old URI and the eye infection thing is clearing up with terramycin.

Very cute! Thank you for letting us know she's OK. We worry about these things.

Now, I have a very important question...what did you name her?
    Spoiled child, bad
    Spoiled cat, good

I'm so glad to hear what she has is treatable.
She is sooo adorable. Does she have a name so I can properly welcome her (and you) to Pet Talk??
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!
