    Tree Struck by Lightning!!!

We just had a huge Thunderstorm!! One of the trees in our Horse pasture got struck by lightning!! What a ruckous that made! I went out after the storm and took some pics! Amazing!

    The base of the Tree

    The top of the tree

Next are the Pieces of the tree, that scattered across the pasture.

This last piece flew at least 75 feet, landed in the trees,a nd was at least 12-15feet long!

The Scarriest thing about the whole Ordeal, was I was just about to go outside when It happened! I had the door open, and was just stepping out when the Lightning struck! I was trying to go and fix the Chicken coop door, which had been blown shut, and all the poor chickens were getting drenched trying to get in. Needless to say I waited a bit before chancing it!

Oh my gosh that would have been so terrifying! I bet that was ear-peircing! And I'm so glad you didn't go outside at that time. And I hope the chickens were all okay, they mainly just got an extra good bath

And I can't get over the pics of that tree, its amazing what one strike of lightening can do, can't imagine what it would ever feel like to get hit by one.As much as I loooove thunder storms I would not want to be close to a bolt that's for sure.

That's scary! I hope the horses didn't get too spooked!

Wow!! That must have been creepy. So you saw it actually hit the tree?? We do not get lightning like that here.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Wow I have to say lightning scares me more than when we have tornado warnings and watches. I've had some very frightening experiences with it and I just get unnerved when we get a storm with a lot of severe lightning. Glad everyone is ok!

Nope no horses at the moment. Pasture has been empty for about a year now.

Thank God no one was near that tree!!! Lightening is a powerful thing and I learned to fear/respect it when I was a child!

I bet you're still awe struck when you see the tree. Our neighbor's seems to attract lightning. I agree with everybody about lightning being the most scary, and I'm a storm chaser. I'm usually out following tornados with no fear, but I avoid lightning. We can sit at our window during bad storms and watch it touch all the way to the ground.

Wow.... I see you got hit with the storms just like we did. The lightning was really scary. We were at the gas station and one struck the traffic lights on the road in front of the station. Very scary.

Amazing pictures though. So glad you decided to stay inside lol

It still amazes me to see it, scary stuff lightning is!

Depends on the tree, box elder trees regenerate quickly. I don't think a cherry tree would though. Those are really tall cherry trees!!
