Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Hills the same as Scince diet? Which is a bad brand? We have it at the vet I work at but I don't think it's any good. And wouldn't the vet of told you what it was for?
I think that hills is Science Diet, except this is Prescription Diet. And, no, he just said we also will give you some canned food.

It's for dogs with gastrointestinal issues.
When you have questions like this, all you need to do is type the product name into google and it will usually give you a decent result.
Prescription diet is exactly that, just like going to the drug store and getting meds for yourself. It's for animals with special dietary needs.
The one eyed man in the kingdom of the blind wasn't king, he was stoned for seeing light.
The name is Hill's Science Diet.
They are a mid range brand. Pushed by the vets, as the co provides lots of scholarships for vets.
Go to their web site and check out the prescripotion diets. Here, I did some of it.

There is an ID dry and canned. It tells you what it is for.
There are other brands which offer prescription diets, as well. Royal Canin is another brand which offers the specialized diets. What's wrong with your dog?
.
She is getting over having a intestinal virus.
I had to feed that to Buddy last year after a bad worm issue.
I was to feed him 1/2 a can a few times a day for the first day. By the next morning his poo was so firm he couldn't even hold it.![]()
So I mixed ground beef and rice with it for a few days until everything came out good.
I think other foods like ol'roy and kibbles and bits, etc. are far more worse than Science Diet. I honestly don't think it's a bad food.. we feed it at the shelter where I volunteer and the dogs and cats do wonderful on it.
