Vicar arrested over child images


A Lancashire vicar has been arrested on suspicion of taking and making indecent photographs of children.



Paul Battersby, vicar of St Ambrose Church of England church in Leyland, was questioned by police and released on 1 May. He was not charged.



The 58-year-old's computer has now been taken away for examination.



The Bishop of Blackburn The Right Reverend Nicholas Reade said that Mr Battersby had been suspended after hearing the allegations.



A statement issued by the Diocese of Blackburn added that such suspensions in the Church of England are neutral acts while matters are investigated further. Mr Battersby was released on bail until 2 July.
