Switching a adult to senior food?

Is there anything wrong with switching a 3 year old dog to senior formula dog food? I feed my dog chicken soup for the dog's lover soul. At work i was looking at the senior formula and it said there was glucosamene in it ( if you remember my last thread, Zoey is having problems with her joints). Zoey needs to loose a little more weight anyway so I was wondering if there is anything wrong with putting her on senior.

A few thoughts:

-senior food won't necessarily result in weight loss. They do also make a lite formula.

- why not call you vet and ask?

My vet told me that the amount of glucosomine in any food isn't enough to show clinical benefits, especially for a stiff dog. You will likely still need to supplement with a pill. I use Cosequin for Sleet and have had great results with it.

My store where I get chicken soup only sales Adult, Puppy, and Senior, so I can't switch to lite. Zoey is already getting a supplement for joints, so I was just thinking that the glucosamene in the senior would help a little more.

Ask if they could start carrying it!

When I switched myc ats over in January, the shop I go to only carried the 5 pound bag. (or maybe it is 6 pounds; anyhow it is small.)

It is a small, family run place. I mentioned that I have 7 cats and I could use the larger bag.

Two weeks later, they told me that they spoke with a number of their cat customers. Most of us have multiples, (surprise, surprise) so now they keep the 18 pound bags in stock. And I can go in once a month and buy one bag of cat food. (AND one bag of dog food, and 6 cans of dog dessert food, and doggie natural treats, and . . . . )
