    Look at his eye!!!

I just adopted this little guy last night with another male the same age, and his eye was fine, then last night I noticed it was draining and irritated, closed, now look at this pic taken just a few minutes ago!! I am sooooo mad, could this have just happend or was he like this before? why didnt I see it? it was fine yesterday so how can it be like this now?

anyone know anything about this? i posted his pic yesterday on cat general ( "2 new kittens") but will post one pic again here.

I agree! Bring this kitten to the vet - poor little thing!
Sirocco has a cat who also had eye problems, I know she did quite a good research about cats eye diseases. Do a search and you'll find it - there are good links too, as far as I remember!

    Good luck!

    kittens eyes

I took the kitty, now officially named Patches, to the vet, and they were not sure, just said some eye infection, it is not scratched(we thought maybe the other kitty scratched himin the eye)
they gave us clovamax liguid, the same medicine that Emma is on for her paw!! less amount of course.

they also said it might be the start of a upper respiratory infection... oh great! so now I have one kitten in each bathroom, to separate them til we know...makes trying to get ready interesting! oh well just for a week.

then went to petsmart and bought some kitty shampoo to give them bathes tonight, and some cat wipes, their fur looks better already...

guess what Patches started doing on the way home? he curled up and sucked on his own belly! I thought he was bathing at first but then I heard the sucking sound, and he did not want to stop

the other kitty is now Charlie...Patches and Charlie!
Sylvester was a good name too, but I named only Patches.
anyway the names go well together I think.

yes at first the technician said it could be an allergy, but who really knows, just hope its NOT an upper respiratory. well hes palying and eating, so he's ok. things are smoother now, I just go with the flow now., so many cats here now it will all work out.
I took on alot but not sorry, I wanted a cat family, now I have it

I sure hope that it's not contagious. My cat Pepper's right eye has been tearing for a few weeks now. It doesn't seem serious and it doesn't look like your kittens either. Anyway he goes to the vet on July 12th for his annual checkup and shots so I guess I'll find out then. He's also acting normal except for this. It may only be allergies. I sure hope so. Good luck with Patches. Keep us posted.

Tough cookie, your kitty appears to have a common infection, I believe is called clymedia. Some of my kittens usually have it, and it can cause eye damage if it is left untreated. this is what happened to Cookie, my cat. I keep a little tube of terramycin in my cat's medicine box. Wash out his eye with warm water and a piece of paper towel, and then take a tiny dab of the ointment and rub it into his eyes. It should clear up in a day or so, or repeat the same until it is gone. Yes, I also believe that it can be contageous to other kittens. However if they did not have the infection after birth, then it is unlikely that they will contact it from another kitten. Good luck on treating your kitten's ailment, and if there are any questions about it, please do not take my word as
"gospel" but instead check with your vet.
