    pet grooming shop

As a dog groomer I get paid 60% on the pet, is it fair for the employer to now ask for a portion of rent /electric /and water, on top of thier 40%??? I have been grooming for 20 years, and this is the first time this has ever happened... I guess it's time to get off my butt and open my own shop....

I am afraid it is. You are using their water etc. Actually around here its only 50 percent per dog. Even if you had your own shop, you still have to pay the water and electric etc PLUS the investment in equipment.

I've got a very good deal on my shop, I've just recently opened up and its water and electric included in the rent, I hear this is very uncommon though but its well worth paying extra rent for the deal.

We pay rent weekly, The electric and water is all included in the price of the rent so we don't have separate bills its just a weekly payment of rent money.

I've never heard of 60% commission for grooming -- in our shop, we have groomers from all over, and we've only heard 45%, or 50% if you bathe and blowdy your own dogs. So I think it's fair. My boss has three groomers paid 45% comission, one paid $10 an hour, we groom between 40 and 60 dogs a day and after all the cost breakdown she still doesn't make as much as you would think.
    I've been BOO'd!

Thank you wolfsoul- nice to know in your area.
In Northern Va., the groomers get 40 percent but then again the price of groomer is higher. Hottie use to be 90 dollars- verse 55 dollars out here if he is done.

    we live in England, London.

The rent is covered if we do at least 1 a day, we really do have a very good deal with our rent and electric.

I would think it would be fair... But after 20 years, I think it would be great for you to open up your own shop
