The bridge gained two wonderful dogs today. In addition to PT's Lilly, my friend's 12 year old black labby girl also crossed the bridge. She really gave no indication she was not well, and for the 9 years I have known her, she was a true lab...full of spunk, never slowing down, always excited to see those that came to visit.
Shadow didn't have an easy start to life, suriving parvo, and being passed from house to house until she found her furever home. Her whole life she battled intestenal issues. We always had to watch what we gave her...only small bites of the pizza crust, no sauce, no cheese. She loved to do tricks for the treats, but I was the only one she would "spin" for. She loved to swim, and loved to play in the snow, but man did she hate birds!! The poor things was scared to death of them!! How silly for a lab!!!
This morning she got on the bed and played, like with my friend like she used to when she was a puppy. Today, when her husband got home from work, he found her she had left for the bridge, laying in front of her kennel in the basement, the place she spent most of her days when she was home alone.
I don't know what happened, or why Shadow left us today, but I know she will be missed.
RIP Shadow. You can eat the whole pizza now!!!
