    American Eskimo...

Has anyone ever heard of, (there not to rare) or gotten the privledge to meet an American Eskimo dog? They look very similar to a Samoyed, but thier smaller, easier, and have bigger eyes. Im interested in these dogs, and would love some information on them, if anybody has some.

My aunt has an American eskimo thats about 10 years old. She is really attached to her, China (the American eskie) goes with my aunt wherever she goes. She is really great with older kids, but she doesn't like younger kids too much, but I think its just her and not a breed trait.

I don't really know any of these dogs personally, but my little dog Pup looks just like a black version of an American Eskimo Dog (when we let her hair grow out naturally)!

My grandmother has a 2-year-old male one, and he's a doll. She says he was really destructive and hyper as a pup (she needed to call in a professional trainer to help her out), but now Teddy's compliant, playful, and seems pretty bright. He's a heckuva guard dog, too--barks when the wind changes direction (almost!). Teddy gets along well with the older dog and cat she has too. For a small breed, I kind of like him!

There's a Eskimo that lives on my street. They are great little watch dogs.
They have alot of hair. So alot of them that come into the vets get a lion cut(their bodies are shaved but their head and tails are left long)
The ones that I have met seem to be a little snappy towards people they don't know. But all around seem to be good dogs.
