Everyone here probably would easily guess that I'd say that my Don would be one of the most special members in this family, though all are equally loved! =]
Not just the fact that Don is my dream bird, but the fact that he has turned out to be everything I ever wanted in a bird. Most know that Quakers have the potential to have pretty nasty attitudes to everyone but their owner. I knew this full and well when I got him. I've met my share of evil quakers. Been literally attacked and bitten so hard by others quakers, but still wasn't turned off by the breed.
I helped hand-feed this little guy and have spent so much time socializing and training him. Its certainly paid off!
He lets just about anyone hold him, and only gets really nippy when he is having an off day. He is only cage aggressive, and I'm the only one who is able to get him out of his cage. Even then, he only gives me the smallest ammount of trouble. He gets along with all other birds and loves to show off once he gets used to you. He knows over ten words and continuously seems to learn new ones. He loves bobbing his head up and down on command, shaking hands, and playing dead; among other tricks. Though out of everything, he loves to laugh the most! As soon as he hears anyone laugh, he has to join in.
Out vet, who has worked with exotics for as long as I can remember says that he's definately one of the sweetest quakers he has met. Don has made alot of fans at the petstore I used to work at and even in his one visit to the vet, he made some fans!
Donnie after a misting. Ain't he cute? =D
Anyway, just wanted to share my handsome Don!
