    AKC Breed Standings- 2006

The numbers are out.. (I was shocked to see breeds that were lower in registrations than the Borzois)... The list is amazing and a real eye looker.. http://www.akc.org/reg/dogreg_stats.cfm

Greyhounds are 136... Makes me wonder if the racing dogs are added or registered by the kennels in the AKC... hmm....

So did mine drop.. What amazed me was like Westminster- more fox hounds, pointers have won etc.. Yet look at the numbers.. Keep in mind- this is the years rank of how many registrations they have.. YOu can also do a search by city or state on your breed..

GSDs moved up a ranking..not necessarily a good thing =/

    Rottweilers moved down one.

Westminster is in around 2 weeks! I'll be flying out there soon.
Hoping to photograph a lot of the breeds there.

The last year I checked, labs and retrievers were 1 & 2. I didn't realize Yorkshires moved up the list so much.

I have a miniature dachshund, #6 on the list. He's getting old though.

Tollers are #110 (three up from last year). I hope they stay unpopular for a long, long time.

Journey - 2yr old Australian Shepherd
    Ripley - 5 1/2yr old Doberman
Dance RN CGN FM - 7 1/2yr old Toller

I would not worry about it.. considering the ranking in borzois is like 695 dogs or close to it- and they were at their ranking- I would not worry about it.

Racers and show greyhounds might as well be two different breeds. Racers are NGA reg'd and show greys are AKC reg'd. Dual registration is not uncommon because I remember seeing a gorgeous AKC hound who also raced as an NGA hound.

Personally, I'm glad Pekes dropped one this year. I feel bad for Yorkies, though. There's been a huge surge in popularity these past few years.
