Took Bear for a car ride tonight.

The guys left me here alone with no dinner

So I put an XL t-shirt on Bear (it was too small, but I didn't have bigger ones) & grabbed a fuzzy blanket from the wash.

Covered my front seat with the blanket & put bear into my car. She was sooooo good!!! Just too fat HAHAHA Poor thing was all squished in my car, & my car isn't small.. its a mid sized car (1999 Mercury Mystique Sport LS)

Her head kept moving my rearview mirror, which was annoying lol

Next month I'm going to buy her a safety belt so I don't have to hold her from falling LOL I was on slow roads, as I knew it was going to be an interesting drive to McDonalds... Yep I took her through the drive through lol I think shes done it before as she was soooooooooooooooooo well behaved. She just sat there & didn't move. When I was finished I gave her a tiny french fry, to let her know she was a very good girl in my car...

Then we drove a block & I filled my car with gas. She was sooooooooooooo good at the gas station aswell

People walked by the car & near me & not a peep out of her.. she watched people, but not one peep

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO proud of her

Aww, what a good girl. Sounds like someone, at some point, took some time with her.

Have you gotten any of the OMG you have a rottie,

Not yet. Don't care either. I had to deal with it with my old dog & with my friends 200p Rottie & the guard Rottie for many years. I gave up on people, or tell them off & give the dog a BIG kiss lol

My dad was mad that I was playing in her mouth so soon... What was I suppose to do? Let a stranger play with her mouth first & then find out she bites hard? hahah how about not... Anywho Bear & I have a blast playing with her mouth... she does the butt wiggle & WILL NOT bite down.. She just loves to howl & moan with my hand in her mouth & me trying to grab her tongue LOL

People do get out of our way really fast when they see her coming... All I hear is HOLY **** thats a big Rottie!!!!! & people flee

Doesn't bother me any... not like I wanted to walk next to gang members anyway

I live in a REALLY bad getto... THe house here are nice & all, but the scumb balls live on the other side of the street & kill each other on the path that runs behind our complex.

I take the dogs to the top of the hill (above the path) to potty, but I stay in my friends area.. its marked as a safe area for me to go alone at night (its lite).

When I said Bear is harmless before, she really is... Shes a push over yes, a bug suck yes.. but she would take someone on if she had too. Someone made a quick & not so normal movement infront of our place when I had bear out there... She WOOFED & the fur went up... She would not budge & stared him down. Once he was out of sight, she relaxed. I know I'm safe with her & shes not psycho, so I can actually go for nice walks & not worry about loosing control or being raped, YAY

I use to love taking short trips with my big dogs in the car.. You do get looks.. And it sounds like she was such a good girl..
When my job stopped that ran me into town ( meaning 60 miles one way) and I didnt need the good gas mileage - with 4 Borzois- we bought a new van thats like a cargo van. I love the space- and easily fits all 4 then uh then some..

Bear LOVES Chad's SUV, as the back seats can go down so when there are 3 of us in it, she can sit beside me (the seats in the SUV are FAR too small for her), saddly the SUV is going bye bye today *crying*

Chad's van is now fixed & the 4 back seats can be removed. We plan to remove the 2 middle seats, so Bear can be close to everyone & still have 2 extra people in the van.

If the van is staying then I plan to get a special teather bolt installed/rigged up, so Bear can safely be in the van for long trips to Ottawa. She will never fit on one of the van seats & taking her to Ottawa in my car would be very uncomfy for everyone. Two 6' guys, me, Mr. Biggles & Bear... ya no way lol

Chad drove me into work this morning & said... Why is that seat wrapped in the fuzzy blanket? teehee

I told him that since him & Andrew left me home alone with no dinner, I took Bear to McDonalds with me. He said your nuts, but did you take Mr. Biggles.. I said no, because he runs around & I have no way of controling 2 dogs in my car while alone... he called me a meany.. said I should have buckled in the crate in the back seat

YOu might want to check into your new state laws if you are required to have a tag lead on your dog. Its a new law here in Virginia that unless the dog is in a crate, they must have at least a 6 inch lead on the dog. This is to aid firefighters to get your dog out of the car. While my guys can not interfere with my driving, they still have to wear them even though I have a grid from past the drivers section.

I got one for sugar but, ashames to say, haven't taken it out of the box yet. She just sits on the seat with her blankie.

There are no laws like that here in this Province. Should be, but aren't, & if there are, then nobody knows about them & its not inforced at all.

Thanks for the link, but there is a REALLY nice one (same idea) thats made out of seatbelt materal that I'm going to buy. It costs a lot more but its much stronger & thicker/wider.

I also might buy a steal kennel (for the van only), have it welded solid (so it doesn't rattle & drive me nuts). Add a thicker frame, & a thicker bottom to it, that has clamps that attach to the things where the van's seats attach to in the floor.

Nifty idea eh?

They put it through here last year after a couple of car accidents the fire fighters got bit trying to get either the person or the dog out of the car. Its not the dogs fault- and really quite frankly- I fail to see how a 6 inch lead is going to stop a terrifed dog from biting more than a catch pole... But- thats Virginia for ya- I swear we have more laws than any other state.. lol..

wait.. you said 6" lead?? What the hell is that gonna do?? 6' is much better!! atleast the rescue person(s) can get a little distance from the scared dog & PULL to get the poor pup out of the car & then allow the dog a little distance away from the stranger with a 6' lead.. That same lead then can also be tied/attached to something, while the rescuer(s) deal with the reck.

We all thought the same thing.. lol.. Do you know how stupid I felt buying something that short for a dog that is already at my hip in height??? lol.. I can not imagine someone with like a lab where the owner would have to slightly bend over to get it- at least a traffic lead is typically 2 feet long..lol..

Think about a Bull dog.. they are short, but Heavy buggers.. OMG I so want to see one of those on a 6" lead HAHAHAHAAAA
