    Bruises

Does anybody here have any experience dealing with some pretty nasty bruises? They had a hard time putting in a catheter on her front leg so I'm guessing they hit the vein a bunch of times because her front leg now looks like this:

I know it's just a bruise, but I'm a little concerned because of Giselle's thin skin. Anything I can do to quicken healing other than letting time take care of it?

If the coloring is correct, that looks very red and swollen. More like inflamation than bruising. How long has it been that way?

It's actually not swollen, but the shading might make it look that way. I'm guessing it's been this way for at least 10 hours because that's when she went in for a dental. The tech said it was just bruising but I didn't notice how red it looked until now.

It looks like razor burn from the shaving to place the catheter, mixed with like you said having tried to hit the vein a few times. also could be from someone scrubbing way to hard to clean the area. ouch! might try some neosporine(sp?)cream on it.

It looks like a razor burn to me too- having sighthounds- that is what it looks like. When she is asleep, put some neosporon it on.. or vaseline- if she wakes up- rub her head so she goes back to sleep..
Femka has the same in her dental- two days neosporan when asleep, it worked. I hope she feels better.

Thanks for the replies, guys! It cleared up after a day or two and I didn't see any marks so I'm pretty sure it wasn't razor burn. She's alright now. I just can't wait until her fur grows back.
