    Dacshund pronunciation

How do you pronounce the name? I always used to pronounce it "Dash hound" because that's how everyone I knew pronounced it. But then after hearing Doxie so many times, I caught on that it was pronounced "Dox ind." Now that's how I pronounce it.

But I still hear people call it a dash hound, so I figure it's a personal preference thing. How do YOU pronounce it?

With my Texas accent, it sounds something like, "Dox-sin"

to weenie or not to weenie............

the name dachshund literally means dachs (badger) hund (dog) in german. so dacks-hoond is probably closest.

i have a miniture dachshund who is 12, his name is sidney.
