anyonek now about doggy illnesses? ( not my dog)

    Hello All,

My dog, Maverick, is very sick. We adopted him from a shelter a few months ago, he was extremely underweight and has not gotten better since (he won't gain weight and throws up his food on occassion). My husband and I have spent nearly $1000 dollars at the vet having all kinds of tests run on him, but we can not afford anymore. Just yesterday we took him in to the vet to get a final conslusion. Our vet said that Maverick CAN make it, he's doing ok, but we need to get some weight on him ASAP. We need to find out WHY he's not gaining weight (him being so skinny is making him sick!) and we would need to have him see a specialist to get an ultra sound of his stomach as well as one other test done. The specialist they referred us too is just too expensive! Each test is going to cost $350 dollars and we just don't have the money.

IS THERE SOME OTHER PLACE THAT WILL DO THESE KINDS OF TESTS AT A LOWER COST??? MAYBE A VOLUNTEER TYPE PLACE OR SOMETHING?!?!

Maverick is sick from being so underweight and throwing up =(. If we don't get him help soon, i'm afraid he might not make it. I think he may have a digestive problem.

Any help or tips you can give me will be appreciated!! I'm so desperate to get him better, I'll even take donations at this point if there's anyone willing to help!

    Is there diarreha?

I do not know of any place that would do the tests for cheaper.

Chipper's symptoms were vomiting (bile - he never vomited what looked like food), bloody diarreha, lethargy, loss of appetite, dehydration.

They tested him for Parvo, Addison's Disease, parasites, IBD, and pancreatitis.

Still waiting on some of the test results.

Unfortunately these things do cost money and I fully understand how frustrating and stressful it can be. Point them to http://www.imom.org and see if they qualify. I didn't, but it's a great site if it can help them.

    update on her doggie

I just wanted to thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my craigslist ad in regards to my dog, Maverick. Unfortunately, his illness was caused by doggy distemper and Maverick had to be put to sleep this morning L. I’m extremely sad, but it was for the best. I didn’t want him to suffer any longer. I appreciate your support and kind words. Thanks so much again and happy holidays.
