    Dry Food

My tiger boy (a hulking black, brown and white mackerel tabby) eats only dry food. This brand is available only from the vet's, and is a formulation which is supposed to prevent urinary tract problems. I'm a bit worried about giving him only dry food, however, because some experts think that this is not a good idea for male cats. He enthusiastically free feeds and has bright eyes and a gorgeous coat, so I know that this food agrees with him. Does anyone else feed their male cats exclusively dry food? (With lots of fresh water available at all times, of course.)

We feed our cat (male, orange tabby 5 years) only dry food, since he had bladder stones recently. There are two kinds we can get from vet, one is Hills Precription diet SD and the other one is a similar one, but different taste (can't rememer the name now) but we can only get it from the vet. I know there's another one which shoud prevent urinary problems.

Well, occacionally we give him a little piece of ham or raw fish as a treat, but as long as he tends to get urinary problems, we have to stick to the diet food. it's very important!!

I don't think you have to worry about only giving him dry food, a lot of cats only have that. To begin with, we felt sorry for him as he used to love certain vet foods, but it's his health that counts!

    Good luck!

Yep - we also feed our three on dried food only, with of course water always available- very, very occassionly they have a BIG treat and share a pouch of wet food between them. They are all healthy and have lovely shiny coats - and LOADS of energy!!!!

Some biscuits can be high in calories, so make sure you get some lights. My cats eat Iams light and tuna etc.

Ours eat both, dry and wet food. They get a bit of wet food in the morning, and a bit in the evening. During the daytime they have access to dry food all the time, and fresh water of course. We can't afford any big brand names, and C & K eat Whiskas dry and wet food, and every now and then Friskies dry food. They are healthy, happy and have a shining coat too. You can all check that fact out from all the pics I keep posting

we have 2 male cats, and they get only dry food. we do give them a bit of canned for a treat once in awhile (like every couple months) and of course they get their 'treats' daily: their favorite are Pounce salmon

our vet says the dry is better for them anyway, and canned is not necessary.

I have three male cats and they only eat dry food too. I feed them Nutro Natural Choice Complete Care Weight Management dry food. I let them eat this freely throughout the day and I provide lots of water too. They seem to like it and are happy and healthy.

The Beans have "Free access" to dry food all day. They eat Felidae or Purina Special Care. Mostly Felidae though. They each get about a teaspoon of Fancy Feast in the AM every other Morning.

Sydney! What magnificent self-restraint you have! If Cassy were in similar situation, he'd have his head tucked into the bag.

You are quite a glamerous looking guy. Have you considered applying for Cat of the Day?

    Lut,
Sydney is a cutie!!! And such a good kitty, not attacking the open bag of food!

Anyway, we feed our cats (1 boy, 1 girl) Nutro Max as well and have had no problems. Both cats drink lots of water as well.
