Ugh!!! Could it really get worse??? RINGWORM!!!

    I'm getting so discouraged!!

My kitties are all spread out due to my current situation...the one's I'm concerned about are Phoebe and Basie. They're staying with my friend that does A LOT of cat rescue...like, we're talking almost up there with K&L.

Basie and Phoebe are in a kennel together right next to another kennel with a momma cat and four itty bitty kittens. Carol took one of the kittens into the vet yesturday and the result was RING WORM. Ugh. She's contacted me as soon as she got home last night and asked if I can move them, she's afraid they'll get effected because ring worm spores are airborn. Between my cats and the kittens/momma is a large plastic "wall", but because its airborn, they may as well had been all in one cage.

I don't know what to do. Them being at her house...in the cozy garage...is my last option. My parent's wont allow them here under ANY circumstances...even in a large walk-in kennel on thier patio or thier 3 car garage.

I left messages with CiCi and David for ideas, but don't foresee anything that can help me. I'm really honestly getting sick of everything I'm dealing with. My health and other dramas are enough and this, its just a slap in the face.

Can you keep us in your prayers (me and my kitties) and that a solution will come up?? I'm pursuing jobs left and right and what I'm contacted with are jobs that wont support me or don't offer my MUCH REQUIRED health insurance.

Ugh, please pray for us. I had thought that finally...finally...things would settle down, not get worse for us.
    ...RIP, our sweet Gini...

Kelly, I'm so sorry to hear this. Ringworm can be very difficult to manage and I sure hope they won't get it. They should be bathed with the special medicated shampoo just in case though. I wish I had a solution for you but I don't. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent your way. Please take care. (((HUGS)))
P.S. Since Carol does so much rescue work, does she have some kind of an outdoor enclosure where your cats might be able to stay for a little while until you find another place for them? This way they wouldn't be as likely to get the ringworm.

SHe does have one or two enclosers she's offered ME to put somewhere. I'm not sure what she'd think about putting them on her covered patio or what they'd feel about living outside.

I've never dealt with ring worm directly, does it hurt the kitties? Or is it more of a fur/skin annoyance??

I don't know how much it physically hurts them but if it goes untreated they can loose a lot of fur and I think they can also get sores from it too. I know that Reachoutrescue's Tracy had a lot of kittens with it and it became so bad that one of them was almost bald. She had to take them to a no kill shelter so they could be treated because she just couldn't do it alone. You may want to pm her about more info about it. Also another pet talker Lizzie still has several kittens with it too and has been treating them for quite a while. The ringworm seems more resistant this year. Good luck.

Awww, hopefully they won't get it ... being in an enclosure outside might seem like "camping" to them, especially as you're in California with relatively mild weather. They might even like it, better than they'd like getting ringworm, anyway.

Kelly, here's the link to Tracy's thread:Ringworm. I sure hope that it doesn't spread like this for your friend Carol.

Here's another thread too that will tell you more:Ringworm.

I'm so sorry, Kelly! I hope and pray you can get something worked out for you and your kitties! I don't understand why can't even put them in your parent's garage or yard?

    Kelly,

Like KLC said, I don't understand why your parents won't allow them to just be in an enclosure in the garage or on the patio. They wouldn't be hurting anyone and it's not like they HAVE ringworm. The sooner you get them out of the situation, the better. For the record, tell your friend Carol that ringworm spores are NOT airborne. It is a contact and non-contact dermatological fungus.

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. I wish you could catch a break my dear friend. You certainly deserve it.

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers, as always. Hang in there girlfriend. If you want to talk, call me!!

BTW, here's an excellent link that explains all about the different types of ringworm.

I have heard really good things about Revolution to treat ringworm and to prevent it! Do some internet searches on it Kelly dearest. What more could happen to you?

Thats why I am so careful about letting the Porchies have contact with the Found Cats.
I would hate to see my Cats with Ringworm or Fleas.

First - I'm so sorry Kel - will be thinking and praying for you and the kitties.
Second- Kel's mom is ummm not an animal lover. at all. Her house her rules. Kelly isn't posting more info out of respect for her mom. Her mom says no - that means no way in the world.
Its her house - she doesn't have to have a reason to say no.
That said - my mom doesn't like cats - tolerates dogs - has told me before that if it came down to it and I had to sell my house and move back in with them I could bring Keegan but not the cats. Hopefully that'll never happen but I do know where I stand.
