    Lucy's First Shed!

    Well, with me of course.

Took her long enough. After 15 long days of me freaking out, she finally sheds.

She went into shed after her October 25th feeding. I missed the blue phase, but she spent pretty much all her time in her hide and the few times I peeked in on her (after awhile I was getting concerned that maybe she found a way to escape) she was very dull in appearance.

On November 2nd, despite hiding and being dull looking, I figured I'd offer her a pinkie. She gulped it down with gusto and was pretty much a no show after that. I did find poop on the opposite end of her tank on Saturday so I knew she had to of been out of her hide.

She continued to hide and I had decided that last night, I'd offer her another pinkie whether she had shed or not. Turns out, she did!

I was surprised to see her out and cruising around. While she enjoyed her pinkie in her feeding tank, I found the shed wrapped twice around her fake plant and stuck to her wood hide. To my delight and relief it is a perfect shed complete with eye caps and the tail tip.

    Way to go Lucy Inara!

Nice and long. (Didn't bother to measure it since I know it's longer than she really is)

Being camera shy in her plant after her meal

I didn't think to measure her when we got her in October. But I'll be sure to measure her after she digests this meal. Might try to weigh her too.

Congrats on the first shed! That can be stressful.

A note for the above post, snakes are not cheap to care for long term, even if they are cheap to buy.

Thanks Jess for the great sig of my kids!

That's nice and intact! Lizard skins are never whole and my dad doesn't keep his snake sheds so I only have a few that are nearly 10 yrs old in my room.
