Podcasts?

What are they? I see them available everywhere but I just can't seem to find an explanation that I can understand. I'm not stupid, I don't think, but I just don't get it.

Can someone please explain it to me? Should I bother getting them sent to my iPod?

They are MP3 files of almost anything - radio shows, news events, web casts, etc. that one can download to their iPods

Podcasts are like radio shows, or even little bitty TV shows, available electronically on your computer. If you go to iTunes, on http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/ you can click on Podcasts, and listen to some. If you enjoy them, you can subscribe, which means every time there is a new episode of that podcast, it will be downloaded to your computer, and to your iPod when it is hooked up.

Most of them are free, I, for example, subscribe to a bluegrass podcast that isn;t every week, but when it is new, I get to listen to it.
