    Need help with rose bush

I was given this wonderful little rose bush by a friend when I was in the hospital. I potted it and it sits happily on my deck however I've just noticed that there is something on the leaves that looks like white dust. (see pictures.) Since I am horticulturally challenged, can anyone tell me what this is and if it will kill the plant? What can I do to get rid of it. Thanks.

I haven't done a lot of reading on this link, but I really think it might shed light on the subject!http://www.extension.umn.edu/distrib...re/DG1163.html

Slick, it's a beautiful rose, I wish I could help, but I don't know much about sick roses. Have you tried spraying it with dishwashing liquid?

I asked my mom (who I interrupted as she was working in her garden :P) - her first words were powdery mildew.
You need to buy some pesticides for it.
    Here's a link I found:

Also she said that roses don't like wet feet when they go to bed, so water them in early morning. NEVER before night time.

She also recommends since it will be getting cold in your area to cut it back to almost nothing so it doesn't freeze. If you choose to cut it back, make sure you clean your clippers because it could spread the mildew.

Thank you all for your response and Kay, I thank you and your Mom for your input. It's a Mini Rosebush that I don't want to die so will take your advice and treat it as necessary. Kay, I didn't realize it had to be cut back in the winter. Thanks and will do that and post pictures in the Spring. Dorothy, thanks for the link.

Will you be keeping in the pot indoors? Or plant it outdoors, in the ground?
