    Do you trim the fur...

Do you trim the extra fur under your cats feet/around the pads like you do with dogs? Or do they need it for something?

No don't trim it. They need it so we can kiss their sweet little furry feet Seriously, I've never heard of trimming a kitty's toe tufties.

I don't have a cat, but I groom cats quite often and I always trim it. I prefer feet to have a "neat" appearance, but that is just me, they are cute either way. If I had a cat with medium/long hair I would trim their feet.

I believe most people do NOT trim them. But it is personal preference. If they catch a lot of litter or you just prefer them to look neat, by all means carefully trim them. Otherwise, leave them natural. (I like to tickle those wild hairs and watch the kitty shake its feet. mean, I know. )

Me too I cant stand dogs that have it all sticking out I think the nbeat cut makes there paws look bigger like a puppies feet.Thats a wierd way of explaning it but I hope you know what I mean. I just didnt know if they needed it for something. And ya the litter gets caught in it hes always chewing at his feeties pulling it out.

I have more than enough trouble getting the nails trimmed on 7 cats each week ; I sure don't need to start trimming fur too! Glad to hear it is OK to leave it as it is, since I do anyway.

Saturday cat chores take over 45 minutes now, not counting time spent chasing the last one or two. Trimming nails, cleaning ears, administering petromalt, brushing teeth, brushing coat (to try and end with something pleasurable!)

On my 2 current 'furry footed' felines I don't trim the hair, since it seems to stay put under the feet, not sticking up through the toes so it has a neat appearence. However years ago with my longhaired Manx cat, I did trim his 'toe hairs', as his stuck out between his toes and all over the place. lol

No,I don't trim my cats toe tufts either. I like them long and furry. Both Storm and Sky have them.

I think that I read some where that Maine Coons have the long toe tufts so they can walk better in the snow. I'm not sure if this is accurate or not.
