    Mind over matter?

Every time someone talks about knee pain or injury my knees start hurting. It never fails, old injuries that rarely cause me pain anymore will flare up the second I hear the words "knee surgery."

I hear this a lot with back injuries and pain that if one thinks they are getting better, that the pain will lessen.

Anyone else have situations where just the thought of something causes physical reaction?

Also seeing someone else itch causes me to feel itchy too!

I remember hearing a story in one of the Chicken Soup books about a family in some kind of war camp.

They were all ill, and a good soul kept mailing them some life savers. With time, they got better.

Little did they know these "life savers" were actually CANDIES.

I truly believe in mind over matter.

Once when I fell off of a horse and broke my wrist, I just laid there saying "it doesn't hurt, it doesn't hurt" in my head.. and it helped the pain a bit. Weird! Maybe it was just me, though.
