Several of my cats LOVE to play with a high bounce super ball! They prefer the small size.
This started with Sparkle as a kitten. I put a ball in the bath tub, and she played hockey! I would roll or lightly bounce the ball in the tub, and she would go into action. Then she caught on and would play herself. Unfortunately, her favorite playtime was 2 AM! But I got used to it; I'd wake up, identify the sound, smile and go back to sleep.
When Dazzle arrived, he also enjoyed bath tub hockey. But after about 3 weeks, he saw no reason to keep the ball confined to the bath tub. He picked it up, carried it out, and a new game was developed. We would set the ball bouncing and he would chase it all over. Great exercise for a young one! He was very skilled at keeping it in motion and preventing it from going under the entertainment center or sofa. If it went under either of those and stopped, he couldn't get it out. He learned to go "meow" at the closet where we keep the broom - we used the broom handle to get the ball out.
Now Crystal has taken charge of the bouncy. She refuses to use it in the tub. She likes to play "fetch" at least 10 minutes 2 or 3 times a day. We bounce the ball and she chases it. Once she catches it, she brings it back and drops it at our feet for another throw! She even takes turns between Dad and I, so we are both involved in her game! These super balls richochet off walls and other objects and keep in motion for a long time. In between throws, Crystal will sometimes lay down with the ball between her paws. She is puffing and needs a short break. As soon as she has rested, she is up again bringing the ball to one of us to toss. We have some long hallways which really make for a good game. We can hear her chasing it all through the house. Crystal does NOT like to play with the bouncy herself, however.
