i look on shelter sites and when i see something funny, touching, or sad.. i put it up here..TEARS is one of few rescue groups that offers its services to the entire state. When the Tuscaloosa County Sherriff's office needed help with a multiple dog rescue they turned to TEARS. 2 volunteers made the drive down to investigate.
Deep in the woods, chained to individual trees, sporadically spaced, were 8 adult dogs. Each dog had no water, no food and no shelter. Tonic was one of those 8 dogs. He was lying amongst trash, garbage and debris. The hot sun beat down on him as he had nowhere to go to seek shelter from it. He greeted the volunteers with a quick wag of his bobbed tail. He somehow knew they were going to help.
Tonic is older, possibly 4-5 years old. His teeth are little nubs, probably from trying to eat the garbage that was all around him. He is fawn colored, with clipped ears and a bobbed tail. He was heartworm positive upon rescue but has successfully been treated. Tonic is fully vaccinated also.
He is having to be boarded at a local vets office until permanently placed as he does not like being around other dogs. We have no way of knowing what kind of life Tonic had to endure to make him dislike other dogs, but it is a little thing to tolerate for a lifetime of love from this survivor.
Boxers are excellent breeds. They are describe as lively, loyal and excellent watch dogs. They are intelligent and are easily trained. Tonic is no exception. He is very smart and eager for a family to welcome him. Please call or email TODAY to adopt Tonic, you will not be disappointed.
